I’ve been a nurse, a University professor, a researcher, a Dean and an anthropologist, but through it all I’ve been an artist. Art was my first love, it’s in my being. Space, design, line, depth and surprise effects are very important to me regardless of the media. Art should express a statement of intent and feeling, regardless of the rendering. The goals are to create a painting that is thought-provoking as well as to stretch the boundaries of light and space. A new perspective from the ordinary, exquisitely composed, warms the soul.

My work is acrylic, oil, ink and torn paper on rag board or canvas and all manner of mark- making bits. I find the excitement of accidental surprises springs forth when I use multi-media in developing depth, line, space and interest. The final effects are on a continuum from impressionistic to abstraction. I think you’ll find them interesting and exciting interpretations of life around us.
