We’re located approximately 15 miles north of Albuquerque and 50 miles south of Santa Fe off I-25 in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains in the Village of Placitas, New Mexico.
Early in my career, I settled down wherever there was a spot for an easel and materials: a kitchen counter, the laundry room, outside, a spare bedroom, a woodworking shop reinvented. In 2015, I finally created my dream studio: a climate-controlled, well-ventilated 800 square foot space with moveable workstations, loads of storage, large encaustic hot boxes, and the convenience of running water and a private meditation patio. The former woodworking shop is now my gallery.
Shomaker Studio & Gallery is open to visitors and private tours by appointment as well as during the annual Placitas Studio Tour on Mother’s Day weekend. Call for an appointment and we'll be delighted to receive you.
